PROTECTION OF RIGHTS - THE FAMILY EDUCATIONAL RIGHTS & PRIVACY ACT.

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) protects the educational records of students and ensures institutions adhere strictly to the rules.

IDEA Advocates helps parents ensure their child’s privacy is being honored. We do this by helping you obtain and view your records to make sure there is no discrimination and to make sure that your child’s personal identification information is protected.

HEALTH SERVICES - 504 REHABILITATION ACT.

Section 504 ensures the child with a disability has equal access to an education.

The student may receive accommodations and modifications if they have physical or mental impairments that affect or limit their abilities.

CHARTING A LIFE COURSE & NEEDED SUPPORT.

The future for a child with an intellectual disability can be challenging. IDEA Advocates can help provide a framework that determines what a 'perfect' future looks like for your child. We will present this information to the county board to get the transition services needed.

If your loved one is in need of services in regards to Waivers (IO, Level 1) or Family-Directed Services (FDS), we can help you get your appointment with the county board and set up the new assessment for “Immediate Need” or “Current Need.”
